Congrats to Sam Deltour on finishing with 16 dogs!

Congratulations to rookie Sam Deltour for being the only musher to finish the race this year with a full team of 16 dogs! Sam has been racing one of Seavey's puppy teams to give them the experience while he gets to enjoy the wonderful scenery along the way. Quite a deal! You can tell from the videos that he's having a blast.

My family met Sam this past summer at Seavey's Ididaride in Seward where he was one of the guides/cart mushers. He's a very nice gentleman and shared a lot of information about the race and training which helped turn us into fans. We've been rooting for him and following his progress closely the whole race. Congrats, Sam!

We are another family that met Sam last summer at Seavey's Iditaride. Our 12 year old son rode on the back of the cart with Sam. It was the highlight of our son's trip to Alaska. Sam was so kind and enthusiastic about his experience working for the Seaveys. He encouraged our son to come back to Alaska in about 10 more years and work for the Seaveys too. If a couple of guys from Belgium can do it, then I guess a kid from Atlanta, Georgia can grow up to be a musher too.

Thanks to the tracker, we've been following and cheering for Sam throughout the race. Our son has even been checking Sam's progress between his classes at school.

Congratulations Sam on getting all 16 dogs to the finish line! We knew you would do it.
