your dogs.

thought id kick off a post in here to get started.

ok well, live in the uk and run my own small team of sled dogs, 3 siberian huskies and a malamute x siberian that we rescued, good fast little team! been running dogs for about 9 years or so maybe more. current dogs in the team are kirra - leader, lolly - leader/team dog, mr wolfe - wheel, sassy - wheel, and the guard dogs jojo and harvey - two tibetan terriers!

we compete in the uk in sled dog races and have done well this year so far with 4 wins and 2 seconds out of 6 races so really proud of them! lots of hard work but sled bags full of fun!

hope this forum becomes as friendly and popular as the old one... be great to see everyones dogs, sled dogs or otherwise!

happy trails and tales

In honor of Uno's win at the Westminster Show I thought I'd share my little beagle with everyone...meet Scout he will be 4 in May! :D (My lens was a little dirty so that is why the color isn't too great!)

Di, your Scout is a cutie! I was so excited last night when Uno won first place. I thought the Siberian Husky in the show looked very good, too. Many good looking dogs, but Uno was truly deserving of his win I believe.

Tanglefoot, the photos of your dogs are great. Your girls look beautiful. How exciting it must be to have a sled dog team.

Thanks Di and Tanglefoot for sharing your photos. I am new to the Iditarod Race and trying to take in as much information as I can. It seems to me that I just cannot get enough information or see too many photos of sled dogs and such!! I am having far too much fun with this!! I am even dreaming about this in my sleep, is that normal?? lol

:D  Hi WMarie!
Welcome to the forum! Yes as far as I'm concerned you've been experiencing normal symptoms of an "idita" addict! This race has that affect on most everyone it seems. I read Gary Paulsen's book Winterdance and that sent me off to find out all I could about the race. Your friends and family will think you've gone crazy but here you fit right in! Love your pretty lab avatar!

This is Lucky. He was about nine months old when this was taken. He's so photogenic. We think he's part beagle.

We are so very happy about Uno winning the Westminster. A great thing for all beagles

We love to bikejor, and imagine the challenges of the Iditarod. Recently I started up a blogspot with lots of great mushing links, more pics, and some hilarious videos. I've just read the Libby Riddles story of her amazing win in 1985, I am deeply touched by the loss of Susan Butcher, even though I have only recently learned of her, and all her amazing accomplishments. I am further inspired by Lance Mackey's story; his win last year, and now his lead in the Yukon Quest! Go team~MUSH ON!

I just realized the forum has moved....
My name is Sarah, and I've mushed dogs for 28 years now, and am in the (slow) process of retirement. I currently have 10 Alaskans, the older ones are mixed with Malamute and the newer guys are "hand me down" dogs. I also have one very fiesty 6 lb Pomeranian, who is in charge.
