Erin,

I understand the clustering, and don't have a problem with that. However, there is now no red tracking line showing the trail, nor the small diamonds showing the checkpoints? I have logged out, emptied the cache, then logged back in. I even rebooted the computer? Is anyone else having this problem? When you open GPS you get the map of Alaska with the small bubbles with the + in the middle, but no trail?

I have read some of the other posts, but don't see this problem mentioned.

Thanks, Erin.

the 3-d solution works well for me:
a kind of interesting: first I get the 3-d view, then it focuses on the trail, and finally I get a 2-d map and it shows THE TRAIL, checkpoints and each musher. looks great: I can see that many left shaktoolik and schnuelle is chasing mackey ...
sure, some mushers are a kind of hidden but when the update comes they may become visible.
so this is a great alternative to cluster view - for now
thanks again!

WHy are the figures updated every 16 minutes. That is less than 4 times per hour and is absolutely not what we should get. It updated faster last year and we actually were able to watch mackey and King fight it out.

It is trivial to update the data at a faster rate without overloading any web server or web client. This has certainly not been worth the extra $14 we were forced to pay this year.

I need to give you constructive feedback on the clustering you added. I'm not a fan at all of the clustering. Why? - Pre-clustering, I enjopyed seeing all of the mushers on the trail and if I didn't see a musher I was looking for, I knew that it was either at a check point with others or on the trail very close to someone else. I could then go to the listing on the left and find the mileage to pinpoint where they were. With the clustering, there's extra clicking involved making it a slower process and doesn't seem to be as realistic as before. Please go back to the way it was....it was just fine as we could see them more scattered about.

rhallgart,
try out the 3d-version. symbols disappear and appear every 2 minutes - looks as if the positions get updated more often?
I could see how ramey smyth and dallas sevey competed before coming to koyok. there was a time dallas was first; he needs now to go 2 miles to be at this checkpoint.

Not so. Before they added the drop down flag, when a number of mushers were near each other, their icons all overlapped and you couldn't tell who was where without zooming way in or unclicking a number of mushers. You still only saw a handful of clusters. Now, you get the same overlaps, but with the drop down you can tell who's in that group. All you have to do to see individuals is zoom in, just like before. Also, there's the newest feature that if you click on a musher's name from the race list, it zooms you right in to them!

Me too.........I've had no problems viewing the GPS tracking system all along, but last night and today, the numbers on the musher's flags don't show. A few near the end of the trail are showing but 90% of the flag's just have a plus (+) sign. HELP! I have to see the end of the race. OUCH!

Since switching to the new feature with the + sign designating where the mushers are, I am unable to get anything other than the trail map when logging onto the GPS tracker. I am using Windows Explorer 7. Help please??????

I've got the same problem as agabbymama. Everything works except there is no red trail line and no markers for checkpoints. I've had my window running all week just fine, but I logged out and back in to get the new version with clustering and now I have no trail line.
