I like to check in during work breaks, so you'll see me on for short periods during the week ADST. I'll start that book club after I get my book finished and then pop on from time to time as I knock out another one. I know there's one or more lists of Iditarod books on the forums from before, so I'll try to track that down too, before I get too involved. I haven't gotten too involved in the videos, but we have a couple of the earlier ITC dvds that are always great to look at.

I'm glad you're still checking out the forums as I've much enjoyed your non-tiresome ;) enthusiasm and contributions. Enjoy your spring. :D

So glad I won't be the only one checking in from time to time. Sometimes, as you well know, when we are following the race for as many hours as the teams themselves are racing, one tends to get a bit slap-happy. That is when I start to post things that some might find tiresome. I however, find them to be quite amusing - at least to me. Thanks for saying you enjoyed my non-tiresome posts. It certainly makes the race far more interesting to me when I can contribute to the threads. Even better when someone other than myself, enjoys them as well.
Our spring in Boston has been our winter. Beautiful for most, but I am a winter person and missed the cold and snow. The second week of the race and last week were in the high 60's to 80's. This week we are experiencing weather more like the end of our usual winters. Twenties at night and 30's & 40's during the day. I suppose next week we will be in the 90's with high humidity. Yup, just gonna have to move to AK. Can't take the heat.
Look forward to you future posts and the Book Club.

Your spring sounds like ours right now. We're been enjoying a real Alaska spring - mostly sunny with similar temps. I've been corresponding with Finnish relatives that we're going to visit for the first time in June and they refer to this time of year with similar weather as "winter spring". Seems to describe it well.

Had a few moments so thought I would check the forum. WOW seems strange not to be checking the GPS map or seeing this forum bustling with comments. I had fun this year and look foraward to next year. Seems every year things get better and I meet new ppl on here like AJcars, atmm, Lennie, and a host of others. Everyone take care ..untol next year!!!!

Hey ak_reelman,

I usually check in about once or twice a week. It IS weird to see so few posts. Don't forget the party in September.

Hi to whoever is checking in,

Just thought I'd let you know that Aliy Zirkle has been posting videos from the race from the Aliy Cam. Ryne, her handler, also posted a video summarizing her race. Aliy usually posts her trail notes sometime during the summer. http://www.spkenneldoglog.blogspot.com

Karen Ramstead has started posting her trail notes about the race. http://www.northwapiti.blogspot.com This is what she said about Wayward:

It (the GPS) was loose in Shaktoolik and I had let Race Officials know but there was no one around to do anything about it!
The ice outside of Koyuk had a lot of bit pressure ridges in it and the dogs cut a corner close and the sled crashed off a 2 foot or so ice chunk. As I reached ground I saw something fly off the sled, it took a minute for me to realize it was my GPS. My first thought was 'no way I'm going back for it' (we hardly ever go 'back' for anything. That is a very risky thing to do.) and I figured since it was a GPS it would be easy to find anyway.

My second thought was 'Oh, my Mom'. And sure enough, I had dinner with her the other night and she told me she was a wreck after I lost it!!!
I found out how popular it had become after I got to Nome and Richard told me. Gave me a good laugh that folks were having so much fun with it! =) =)
